About kitchen chimney

Kitchen chimneys are very important features in a kitchen. Located at or over your cook top, they function to expel grease vapor and cooking smells from your kitchen to the outdoors. A lack of adequate venting over time will cause a slow build up of layers of grease and odor. Several factors affect the type of chimneys best for each kitchen.

Types of chimneys

Wall-Mounted

Wall-mounted chimneys are the most common type of chimneys available, and they come in many different styles, from basic functional chimneys to large decorative chimney. Because cooking smells and steam travel upward, a wall-mounted chimney that sits directly over the cooking surface is very effective at extraction. Wall-mounted chimneys can also be hidden in upper cabinets or combined with a microwave over your range.

Downdraft Chimneys

Downdraft chimneys are used when an chimneys cannot be mounted on a wall over the range, such as for a cook top in a free-standing kitchen island or where a visible wall-mounted chimneys is not desired. Typically integrated into the cook top surround itself, a downdraft chimneys pops up when in use to extract cooking fumes at a few inches above the cooking surface. Downdraft chimneys fans are located in the kitchen cabinetry, and they are ducted down into the kitchen cabinet and out an exterior wall.

Duct Routing

For all chimneys types, duct work should be routed to the outside wall in as direct a path as possible. The more bends that a range hood duct has to make to exit through a wall, the less effective the fan will be in extracting cooking fumes. Ducting is available in several types; the most common is a round flexible duct. Rigid flat duct is also available, and its main benefit is it can fit easily in the depth of wall framing

Recirculating Rangehoods

In a situation where you are not able to vent your chimney directly outside, you can install a recirculating chimney. Carbon filters within the chimney remove the grease vapor and cooking smells from the air, then the chimney ejects the warm air back into the room. The carbon filters need to be changed periodically to remain effective.

Maintenance

Charcoal Filter:
We recommend replacing the charcoal filter once every 6 months or as needed, according to usage.
Aluminum and Micromesh Filter:

Removable without tools and dishwasher safe using non-phosphate detergent. Using a detergent with phosphates, as the content of minerals in water, may cause filters discoloration, but this will not affect their filtration capability. This discoloration is not covered by the warranty.

Stainless Steel:

Wash surfaces with clean cloth or rag soaked in warm water and mild soap or liquid dish detergent. A specialised household stainless steel cleaner may also be used. Always clean in the direction of original polish lines

chimney Vibrations

If your chimney is vibrating excessively, check if the blower wheel is properly installed. Also check if all the mounting screws are installed according to the installation manual recommendations.
